Hey guys,
My wife just published her book, and some of you all may be interested to get it. We saw to it that Bookshare has it, don't know about for people without a Bookshare.
Here's the direct Bookshare link:
Are You Keeping A Secret?: Finding Freedom From Hidden Issues That Can Ravage Your Life
She's also got a blog at:
KaraBaker.AuthorWeblog.com
This is not intended to be SPAM, and anyone with a Bookshare can get the book free, but thought I would post this because for us new materials aren't always available, I know especially for anything not mainstream, religious publications being rather a specialized market.
And what with the eBook wars right now we won't know which stores would carry what format that we can use.
Her publishers do Amazon / Kindle at least.
But we sent the book direct to Bookshare in RTF so you shouldn't get the oft-present scanner mistakes.
Anyway hope this is a good thing for anyone who wants it.
It has been quite the journey in the making for her.
I just looked at her blog again, and may have to look at something with it, because you can't access the music to turn it off.
I haven't helped her too much on development because it's mostly her writing and they've got widgets for her to use / won't let me do anything to their source code.
The music comes from Mixpod and I know she wanted it for ambiance. Till now I hadn't thought of a blind user without a Braille display using it as I have not had much hand in making it. Also since it's Mixpod, their using flash indirectly and they won't let me edit the source to their / her badge or I would put in an event listener for you to push escape at least to shut it off. But Mixpod is a closed system so I can't edit it.
If you have Vista or Windows 7 you can turn down the volume for your browser / open Volume Controls by just typing volume in the search text box on the start menu, then push the down arrow button till you get to 'Adjust System Volume' and press ENTER on that. When your browser is open you will be able to adjust its volume in the Volume applet. Sorry for the work-around but it's Mixpod and even if you go direct to mixpod.com you can't control how the playback works.
Congradulations to your wife on her new book! I haven't had much experience in reading Christian material, but I may give it a look.
Hi there:
I just heard about the book today, so I will download it and see how good it is. I'd say it would be good, so I'll take a leap of faith and find out.
